  • Levíssima Chair | 55design

Chairs Bruno de Carvalho Levíssima Chair The materialization of a pursuit for visual lightness, inspired by the sophisticated work of master Joaquim Tenreiro, gave life to the Levíssima Chair. In this version, where carbon steel is replaced by aluminum, the need to elevate the product's name became evident—what was once called "Leve" (Light) is now named Levíssima. The mixed structure of wood and aluminum allows the rear legs to be connected only at the height of the backrest. The seat and backrest—meticulously crafted in leather—rest delicately on the aluminum frames, further reinforcing the artist’s vision. • Quem Somos | +55design

Conheça quem está por trás da +55design. Sócias fundadoras e curadora. WHO WE ARE A 100% Brazilian design brand, we specialize in creating exclusive furniture pieces, each signed by one of 14 renowned designers under the curatorship of Clarissa Schneider. We value care and delicacy—emotion and meaning. For us, every detail counts: from foam crafted with state-of-the-art machinery and raw materials sourced exclusively from Brazil, to partnerships that celebrate the richness of our cultural heritage. Our creative process unfolds like a grand symphony, gaining rhythm with each stage—from sketching to sculpting, calendering to stitching, machining to cutting. If the art of bringing furniture to life is akin to conducting an orchestra—with cutting-edge tools in the hands of a skilled team—then our store is a dance of interiors. Designed by Studio Arthur Casas, it was honored with the prestigious Building of the Year 2025 award. Every choice contributes to a larger harmony. Volumes, proportions, geometries, and fittings—each element sparks dialogue and evokes a sense of meaningful complementarity. Our products carry an accent, a culture, and the essence of Brazil’s many corners. We collaborate with key furniture industry hubs in São Paulo and the southern region, alongside artisan associations from the hinterlands of the Northeast and the backlands of Minas Gerais. Our network also extends to partnerships with Indigenous and riverside communities in the heart of the Amazon. Ticiana Villas Boas founding partner A journalist by training and profession, Ticiana is deeply passionate about design and Brazilian folk art. What began as a personal interest evolved into a fulfilling parallel career, which she now balances with her ongoing work in journalism. Over the course of fifteen years, she worked as a TV host and reporter for some of Brazil’s leading networks, including SBT and Band. "I love listening to and telling stories—uncovering the 'why' behind things. At +55design, every piece of furniture or object holds meaning and carries a dream." Clarissa Schneider curator Clarissa holds a degree in Advertising and Marketing from Belas Artes. She began her career as a copywriter and creative director at both national and international advertising agencies, later transitioning into design at the now-closed Camaleão studio, which she co-founded. For 14 years, she served as editor-in-chief of Casa Vogue Brasil. In 2011, she launched her own publication, Bamboo—now one of Brazil’s most prestigious magazines dedicated to architecture, urbanism, design, and art. Beyond editorial work, Clarissa consults for national and international brands, curates architecture and design projects, and brings her discerning eye to prominent competitions such as Casa Cor São Paulo, Um Sonho de Banheiro Deca, and Portobello. In recognition of her contributions to the field, she was named Journalist of the Year by the Brasil Design Award in 2005. ART More than furniture—art pieces. We create with the intention that our designs endure through time, inhabiting homes that echo the atmosphere of galleries, where every detail is meant to be observed with care, emotion, and a discerning eye. We’ve participated in recent editions of SP-Arte through meaningful collaborations. One of them was with J. Borges, the celebrated master of Brazilian folk art, who signed a collection of eight pieces featuring surfaces engraved with woodcut matrices carved by his own hands. In the year prior, our partnership with Projeto Soma resulted in a series of nine animal-shaped stools—bodies designed and built by Rodrigo Silveira, with heads and tails sculpted by Mehinako Indigenous artisans from the Upper Xingu. Throughout our five-year journey, our showroom has hosted works by various artists, including visual artist Heloisa Crocco, who transformed leftover leather from our factory into striking compositions. We’ve also combined reclaimed wood and industrial remnants to create wall pieces rich in form and texture. We see Brazilian craftsmanship and manual artistry—from leather to wood, from stitching to sculpting—as vital expressions of identity. These traditions infuse contemporary art with layers of history, emotion, and meaning. MADE BY BRAZILIANS We like to say that our brand speaks with an accent—and a touch of dendê—a tribute to the Bahian roots of our founders. Though based in Brazil’s Southeast, our journey spans the entire country—from North to South, Northeast to Center-West. Our collection reflects the richness of each region, proudly carrying the international code that connects us to the world: +55. Every piece captures the spirit of Brazil through its forms and inspirations—like the Envelope armchair, crafted with techniques rooted in Gaucho tradition; the Cabaça armchair, shaped by Bahian identity; the Sylvia line, echoing the architectural curves of Brasília; and the Carioca collection of sofas and chairs, among many others. ENVIRONMENTAL IMPACT At +55design, environmental responsibility extends beyond the wood we use. Our fabrics are natural and organic, with 22% of them made from recycled materials. They are free from chemicals in their production and have a reduced water consumption. In addition to our commitment to the environment, we continually foster partnerships with social projects and communities across the country that honor traditional craftsmanship. Among these are the Baniwa indigenous group, who designed the Arumã lamp in collaboration with studio MK27; the Kayapo people, who painted cushions for the brand; Araucária Arte em Lã, a network of women who co-created blankets with us; the Maravilha Handicraft Group, who crafted the Ambé vine baskets for the Dona Antônia lamp, a process certified by the IMAFLORA seal; and the Women’s Association of Piauí, who developed the Ashansu panel, a 100% handcrafted piece by artisan Iraci, made from Carnaúba fiber.

  • Sylvia Sideboard | 55design

Sideboards and Bars Bruno de Carvalho Sylvia Sideboard Like architecture, the Sylvia bar is elevated on pilotis that start from the ground, pass through the semi-transparent volume, and extend beyond the roof, supporting a cut slab. The wooden box is surrounded by a kind of woven skin made of silk straw, allowing a view through it. At the top, the crown of the piece serves as a support for bottles. "The design is certainly a result of what I learned during my academic training, in a school strongly influenced by modernism. In Sylvia, I envision the lines of a house I would certainly design if I worked as an architect," adds the designer. The bar unfolds into a collection also composed of a sideboard and home unit.
