- Moitará Sofa | +55design
Sofas Arthur Casas Design Moitará Sofa In Tupi, "Moitará" refers to the traditional practice of exchange among different indigenous peoples, characterized by a relationship of reciprocity and cooperation. This concept of exchange and fluidity is reflected in the works of architect Arthur Casas, who often blurs the boundaries between interior and exterior spaces. While his architecture subtly integrates environments, his Moitará outdoor furniture collection reinforces this connection even further. The Moitará sofas, armchairs, poufs, and coffee tables do not follow the conventional design of outdoor furniture, which is often associated with metals, tensioned fabrics, and synthetic textiles. Instead, the collection embraces robust upholstery and wood, allowing the pieces to seamlessly transition from the veranda to the living room. Functionality is enhanced by the addition of wheels on the sofas, making them easy to move and adapt to any setting. In this way, the collection translates the principles of exchange and integration into versatile, sophisticated, and cozy pieces, redefining the concept of outdoor furniture. After all, an outdoor sofa can offer the same comfort and beauty as an indoor one. - Diamante Sideboard | +55design
Sideboards and Benches Bruno de Carvalho Diamante Sideboard With a surface of accentuated geometry through faceting, the Diamante sideboard creates a play of solid and empty spaces, which in turn brings movement and depth. On the faces where the wood is absent, bronze details fill the gaps, adding points of light and reflection, much like a jewel. It is through the artisanal marquetry work that the wood veneers are glued and positioned in such a way that the grain always points toward the top of each of the ‘diamonds’. - Pedrosa support table | 55design
Coffee Tables Bruno de Carvalho Pedrosa Side Table A minimalist reinterpretation of the baluster – a Rococo element so present in Brazilian daily life – gave rise to a collection of tables entirely made of ceramics, designed by Bruno de Carvalho. The complex and extensive production, materialized by ceramist Alice Felzenszwalb in her studio in Rio de Janeiro, required that the three elements that compose it – the completely flat surface top, the leg, and the connection – be molded and fired separately, reaching a temperature of 1170º, to acquire the rigidity of stone (Stoneware ceramics). With two height options (so they can be stacked on top of each other) and three different shades (Egypt, Morocco, and Siberia ceramics), the pieces play with the textures of the natural material, presented either glazed or matte, and can be used in both indoor and outdoor areas. Studio MK27 In tribute to Amazonian women, various traditional basket shapes from the Amazon region acquire a new identity and are transformed into a source of light. The baskets bear the Origens Brasil (Imaflora) seal, and their QR code allows for tracking products made by traditional communities. The lighting fixtures created by studioMK27 are made from two types of basketry: one produced by the Maravilha Handicraft Group (Careiro Castanho, AM) using hand-dyed ambé vine, and another made by the Baniwa people (Indigenous Organization of the Içana Basin, Alto Rio Negro, AM), using Arumã fiber, with dyeing and fixatives made from plants native to the region.
