Coffee Tables Bruno de Carvalho Pedrosa Side Table A minimalist reinterpretation of the baluster – a Rococo element so present in Brazilian daily life – gave rise to a collection of tables entirely made of ceramics, designed by Bruno de Carvalho. The complex and extensive production, materialized by ceramist Alice Felzenszwalb in her studio in Rio de Janeiro, required that the three elements that compose it – the completely flat surface top, the leg, and the connection – be molded and fired separately, reaching a temperature of 1170º, to acquire the rigidity of stone (Stoneware ceramics). Studio MK27 In tribute to Amazonian women, various traditional basket shapes from the Amazon region acquire a new identity and are transformed into a source of light. The baskets bear the Origens Brasil (Imaflora) seal, and their QR code allows for tracking products made by traditional communities. The lighting fixtures created by studioMK27 are made from two types of basketry: one produced by the Maravilha Handicraft Group (Careiro Castanho, AM) using hand-dyed ambé vine, and another made by the Baniwa people (Indigenous Organization of the Içana Basin, Alto Rio Negro, AM), using Arumã fiber, with dyeing and fixatives made from plants native to the region.
