  • Portuguesa Dining Table | 55design

Dining Tables Studio MK27 Portuguesa com Certeza Table "When we renovated our office, we made a tile table that was a huge success! Besides providing an outdoor space for socializing, it is also always highly praised by everyone who visits the Studio. We wanted to create a special version of the table, and during a trip to Portugal, we came across the incredible epic murals at São Bento Railway Station and the traditional Viúva Lamego tile factory, which has been in operation since 1849. That’s when we combined the handcrafted, hand-painted tiles with our experience in making furniture with slim metal frames, resulting in the limited edition "Mesa Portuguesa com Certeza" for +55design." • Diamante Sideboard | 55design

Sideboards and Benches Bruno de Carvalho Diamante Sideboard With a surface of accentuated geometry through faceting, the Diamante sideboard creates a play of solid and empty spaces, which in turn brings movement and depth. On the faces where the wood is absent, bronze details fill the gaps, adding points of light and reflection, much like a jewel. It is through the artisanal marquetry work that the wood veneers are glued and positioned in such a way that the grain always points toward the top of each of the ‘diamonds’. • Cabaça Ottoman | 55design

Benches and Stools Nildo José Cabaça Ottoman The ottoman was created to accompany the Cabaça Armchair, the first furniture piece by studio NJ+, and is a tribute to the Brazilian Northeast's backlands (sertão). Cabaça is the popular name for a hard-shelled fruit traditionally used in decoration, as a musical instrument, in crafts, or even as a water container during times of drought in the countryside. It was in the fruit’s functional versatility, strong symbolism, and delicate form that Nildo found inspiration for the design of the ottoman. • +55design at SP-Arte | 55design

Clarissa Schneider curadora Manifesto 2025

  • joão chair | 55design

Chairs Bruno de Carvalho Carioquinha Chair The relaxed elegance of the Carioca lifestyle is embodied in this chair. We achieved structural lightness in this product by using aluminum covered in double-layered fabric and foam, along with casters. Comfort is provided by the shape and the composition of soft foams applied in different densities—all calendered, ensuring the necessary resilience of the material. To finish, the foams are embraced with a layer of down feathers, enhancing the comfort, feel, and drape of the fabric. The finish is completed with a removable linen cover, providing a visual lightness that reinforces the Carioca spirit. A highlight is the detail in cast brass, made using a sand mold and handcrafted by designer Bruno de Carvalho. • Arthur Casas Design | 55design

Arthur Casas Design "My constant ambition is to design items that are truly necessary, considering the comfort of those who will use them and, of course, my personal concept of beauty." Arthur Casas believes that the ability to integrate all scales within a single project ensures greater cohesion between its elements. From objects to architecture, every design decision is treated with the same level of care and attention. His journey into furniture design began with the need to “complete” the interior projects in his office, as, in 1980s Brazil, he could not find pieces that met the demands of a home bearing his signature—both in design and dimensions. Over the years, the architect has earned awards for creating exclusive furniture for both national and international brands, and has curated a collection of 10 pieces in the +55 portfolio. The collection includes standout pieces such as the Max dining chair, Jet Set and Soft armchairs, the Apache dining table with a Brazilian marble top and Tauari wood base, the Côncavo sideboard and bookshelf with molded stainless steel doors, the concrete Mineral bench and side table, and the Pan Am sofa in crumpled leather. “These are highly complex designs, and I’m proud they’re entirely produced in Brazil,” says Arthur.

  • Fora da Curva Sofa | 55design

Sofas Bruno de Carvalho Fora da Curva Sofa The very name of this sofa reveals its authentic, sinuous essence, bringing a contemporary signature to any project it graces. Its shape follows a curvilinear approach, reminiscent of a snail shell unrolling, while the solid wood frame adds rhythm to the viewer’s gaze. These structural tables interlock like pieces of a puzzle, fastened by brass buttons, with the legs subtly revealed from the front, tucked beneath the seat. Comfort is achieved through a combination of five foams of varying densities, designed to fit together in a deliberate locking mechanism, much like a puzzle. The backrest is suspended from the seat by a metal plug. All of this is modular, allowing for playful customization. A sofa that is everything, but never obvious.
