  • Cabaça Armchair | +55design

Armchairs Nildo José Cabaça Armchair The Cabaça Armchair, the first furniture creation by Studio NJ+, is a tribute to the Brazilian northeastern sertão. “Cabaça” is the popular name for a hard-shelled fruit traditionally used for decoration, as a musical instrument, in crafts, or even as a water container during times of drought in rural areas. It was in the plurality of its uses, the strength of its symbolism, and the delicacy of its form that designer Nildo found inspiration for this piece. • João, Maria and José Ceramics | +55design

Soulful Accessories Clarissa Schneider + Alice Felzenszwalb João, Maria and José Ceramics João, Maria, and José are a collection of ceramic vases and lamps created by our curator Clarissa Schneider and developed by ceramist Alice Felzenszwalb. Handcrafted, the pieces come in various tones and sizes, each showcasing marks of the handcraft process and the inherent imperfections of artisanal work. Both João and Maria can also be transformed into lamps, with the lampshades made from fibers extracted from the Buriti palm by a community in Piauí, led by artist Ingrid Clark. "There is simplicity in these products: the joyful colors of summer, the Buriti fiber, the handmade ceramic make me think of looking more delicately at the objects present in our everyday life," Clarissa Schneider.
