The Cabaça Armchair, the first furniture creation by Studio NJ+, is a tribute to the Brazilian northeastern sertão. “Cabaça” is the popular name for a hard-shelled fruit traditionally used for decoration, as a musical instrument, in crafts, or even as a water container during times of drought in rural areas. It was in the plurality of its uses, the strength of its symbolism, and the delicacy of its form that designer Nildo found inspiration for this piece.
