The ottoman was created to accompany the Cabaça Armchair, the first furniture piece by studio NJ+, and is a tribute to the Brazilian Northeast's backlands (sertão). Cabaça is the popular name for a hard-shelled fruit traditionally used in decoration, as a musical instrument, in crafts, or even as a water container during times of drought in the countryside. It was in the fruit’s functional versatility, strong symbolism, and delicate form that Nildo found inspiration for the design of the ottoman.
